He should have given himself a couple of years more and targeted 1000 Test wickets."
Former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga feels Murali called it quits too soon

"Were another Murali - and the beaches and streets of Sri Lanka are still full of youngsters who throw rather than bowl the ball - to emerge now, he would be headed off at the pass, 15 degrees of flexion or not. Rathnayake. There was a big problem with Sri Lanka Cricket's selecting committee. We hope this selecting committee will be a functioning one and consist of people with cricket knowledge. (Even though Ranjith Fernando is a former test player I have no idea about him, because I have no reason to trust him)

There is another issue that can be occurred with the time, that has happened to the previous committee. Previous committee president Asantha de Mel was also a good cricketer, but he did so much stupid selections than smart selections. Here I want to say that if someone has been assigned to some duty we have to let him to do his duty. If politics came into the cricket that would be the end of new committee too.

I am really happy and also sorry to see Aravinda De Silva in the selecting committee. He is a real talented man and he is a promising officer for Sri Lanka cricket and that made me happy. I feel sorry because I would like to see him as the permanent coach of Sri Lankan cricket team. I think we can earn much more from him.

My suggestion :

I would really like to see Sanath Jayasuriya also as the co-coach in Sri Lanka team. I really believe if we combine Sanath Jayasooriya and Aravinda De Silva together to grab the best for Sri Lanka. Because those two are the most succeeded players for Sri Lanka and with both of them Sri Lanka need a good bowling coach from Sri Lanka (Like Champaka Ramanayake and Rumesh rathnayaka).

But before all Sanath Jayasuriya should have to retire from his international career before people neglect him. I strongly believe that he can play more but he cant bare much pressure now. Obviously he is one of the greatest cricketers ever been, that's for sure. I remember once Sir. Donald Bradman also surprised with Jayasuriya's strong off side shots. So he should understand the present situation and it is good to study Gilchrist and Demian Martyn.

Let me conclude my comment. I dont see any nightmare in Sri Lanka Cricket as some commentators saying. It is nice to see young players coming to the national side more frequently play along with seniors. That is where we have our strength.

Another thing, I think Sri Lanka having good time with finding bowlers. I wish good luck to all bowlers specially seamers.

The best finding in recent is Angelo Mathews, the best batting all rounder Sri Lanka ever had. Cheers for Mathews !!!

With all of these factors we can hope for a better cricketing time in future along with the new selecting committee.

A Historical mistake going to be happened !!!!

"Mahela Jayawardena is going to resign from his captaincy" This could be the worst step that can be taken for this particular situation. It is true that Sri Lanka has fallen a lot, but it is not totally a problem of captain. Let me talk about it.

First let us have a brief look at the current status of Sri Lanka cricket team. If we make a compare with 2007 world cup team, it is consist of almost same players except Marvan Atapattu and Russel Arnold. But the outcome is not same. We know that we had a strong team with sufficient confidence. Now it is seem to be loosing everything including captaincy, stratergies, confidence, etc...
It is obvious that every team has peak levels and trought levels. But I feel that Sri Lanka is not having their peak or trought.
Here i cant see any big problem, because in everytime we saw that, atleast one among batting, bowling and feilding has it's typical Sri Lankan characteristics. But the problem is we have lose our concentration in feilding like never before. We have some of the best ground feilders in the world like TM Dilshan, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chamara Kapugedara, etc...
If turn in to batting side it has gone so low level. No one except Sangakkara and Dilshan keeping their personal performances. Obviously Sanath Jayasuriya doing his job so perfectly with Dilshan now. But no one ready for carry on that.
When we talking about the bowling side it is much better that batting, but not up to standards we expect from a Sri Lankan team.

Before talking about the above issues let me point out a suggetion. We have to limit the series with Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Though it is very good for India and Bangladesh teams to get a better practice with world's most exiting bowlers like Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis. But it is not a good investment for Sri Lanka.

When we talk about the loses we have met in this particular time, we have to argue with the selectors much. I say it was not the most appropriate squad we had in last series with India. Thilina Kandamy is only residue for us. Actually we need much more players like him. As we know Mahela Jayawardena had same kind of failuires before. But ha could recover it so perfectly. The only thing needed is the time. Mahela Jayawardena is one of the super techniciens in the world. Therefore he wont take much more time to find his alternative method for his perfomances. If we talk about the captaincy, i say Mahela is the most suitable captain for this Sri Lanka team. It is true that he has to overcome with his previous talents so quickly. But we needed his captaincy very much.
As we kmow he has introduced many captain stratergies to world cricket. Thats for sure. So he should be the captain !!
Lasith Malinga has to be recalled so quickly, because he is in perfect form now. (Measuring the cricketing talents from physical appearence is one of the stupid that can be done by the officials) I mean Sri Lanka needed Mendis - Malinga combination to fire it again.
Farveez Maharoof did a fine job with his bowling but we expect more from his bat. Chamara Kapugedera, is also struggling with fast and short innings.

It is so proud to talk about Nuwan Kulasekara, who has gone through with lots of dedications. He is the world number 2 bowler at this moment. So we need no any parameter to explain his talents.

Here i strongly considered about the captaincy. So let me conclude the things i have told.
Mahela Jayawadena should be the catain until it need to find next permanant captain. But there is a major problem.
Can we satisfy with the technology which currently using for the LBWs ? (I mean the path & the height of the bounce of the virtual ball)
Even though it is 100% success option to judge the catches. Someone could ask how can they measure the height of the bounce? Yes it could be a very good point.
It is true that this is too early to talk about this new 'testing technology', but this is just only my idea.

Lets look at the benefits Sri Lankans got from this.
If there wasn't this new rule Sri Lanka should have been bowling for another at least 50 overs in the last test against India (idea cup 2008). When we take the decisions which turned in to Sri Lankans they all are 100% correct. But any of Indians didn't respectect gently. Actually Ii is a shame for them, cos no one would appreciate the responds which Tendulkar & Dravid did. If the players play gentle cricket, there is no need of this new rule in fact. But when we facing this kind of ugly sitiations why should we say 'no need' it ? This the reason why people appriciate & respect for genlte players like Brian Lara, Kumar Sangakkara & Adam Gilcrist.
I'd like to quote Mahela Jayawardena's attitude on this new rule. 'We all have to think that Umpire is also a typical human, so we have to respect their decisions by neglecting the wrong decisions'. This includes the pride & the great honour of Test cricket umpires.
Let me remind you a revoluted dicision of a umpire. The Last Test match tour of Sri Lanka to Australia(in 2007). At the last match, in the second innings of Sri Lanka, umpire Rudi Koertzen gave a unbelievable decision for Sangakkara. That turns the result of the match completely. Now think if we have this rulweat that time Sri Lanka had a chance to win a test in Australia with a world record. That wrong decision blocked two world records.

As my point of view this rule will not survive for a long, cos it is a experiment yet. This might attack Australian monopoly of being the unbeatable team in the world. Because their quote is "win somehow". This is not my private feeling, Australian captain proved this for many times. He changes his attitude evrytime. What he want is only to win, not to respect this 130 old gentle game.
The other thing is majority of ICC consist of Australian & England former players.
But if this rule will make them happy this might be a permenant rule, otherwuse this will be just only a experiment.

So i have no hope of this new rule's future.

'The Answer is in white people's hand'

Cheers !

What Next ?

Well, every Sri Lankan would be happy about the way the Asia Cup ended. Me either. A new hero rised & everyone celebrating that.
But the thing is everyone should pay attention on the way that Indians played against Sri Lanka. The only confusion they had was 'Mendis'. They beat hardly to all other bowlers including Murali & Vaasi. When we think about this particular thing do we have anything to celebrate?
Chaminda Vaas has lost his line & Indians did lot of homwork to face Murali. Mirando has to be much effective to that place & he'll have to face a tough competition with Ishara Amarasinghe to keep his place protect. Nuwan Kulasekara did an exeptional work to SL in every bowling innings. No one would appreciate & accept Dilhara Fernando's bowling figures. We expect a lot more than that as a experienced bowler from him. He's totally lost his concentration.
It Is nice to watch Weerarathne's contribution as a batsman but not as a bowler.

It is good to have a player like Weerarathne for a competition to Maharoof. Actually lost of Maharoof made a massive damage for SL line up. He can balance the team for any direction. That is why he should be prepared for our next permanant Captain. Perhaps someone might think that it is too early to think about a new captain. But it should be kept in official's minds, cos Sangakkara will not be able to hold the permanant captancy along with Mahela Jayawardena. Because both of them are in approximately same age. Even Dilshan has to face that truth.

I'm so happy to see the success of Chamara Kapugedera. Because i favoured him as a permanant player in Sri Lankan national team. He showed his talent of playing in the pressure times. I think no 4 would be his permanant place. I always told that we should give a chance to our next opener to play with Sanath Jayasuriya. I think it is the best time to do that, cos he is in his maximum. I'm not going to describe that legendary player, cos "He is the most exiting batsman ever". I'l find some other time & whole article to talk about him.
I dont know the next opener. but i think it should be Maharoof or Udawatte with Sangakkara. Udawatte was not included my previous dream team, but according to the flow(I mean the world trend) we dont have anyone else. But i still in my wish. We can have a experiment with De Seram or Kaushalya Weerarathne.

I have another suggesion. I think Sangakkara should be rested in next tournament.
I noticed that he lost his concentration as never before. Specially behind the stumps. Perhaps the reason could be the changing of his batting possition. But i think he need a rest while Dilshan keeping the wickets. it would be a worthy investment for the premire Wicket keeping batsman in the world.

Let me talk something about Ajantha Mendis. He is briliant. that's for sure, but we have a big problem beyond us. Now every team would watching his bowling action & understanding him. But It is not a challenge good bowler. But we have to protect him. I mean we have to develop our fast bowlers. Accordind to my latest experience Maharoof & Vassi were bowling very well during the practice sessions before the Asia Cup. But Fernando & Malinga has to be more effective. Because the 'Malinga forebia' is still stuggling with the England, Australia & South Africa.

India is a powerful team with lots of young players. But they have ability of doing the wrong things. Ishant Sharma is bowling perfect line & length. Gautam Gambir, Suresh Reina & Rohit Sharma has a good confidence while their skipper Dhoni keeping his typical rhythm.

Chamara Kapugedera got another chance to establish as a permanant test player. He did it to the ODI very well.
Warnapura, it is the turning point of yours. This tournament will judge you, whether you are a specialized test player or a good batsman.

Best Wishes To Asia Cup Champions 2008 !

Disappointed

It is so hard to bare that Sri Lankans lose the Digicel Tri match series for 2-0 & tied the two test series for 1-1. This is not a expected situation by anyone in SL. This unexpected results has rearranged all the ICC rankings.
Kumar Sangakkara has fallen to the third position & Muttiah Muralitharan has to share his crown with another one after a long time.
When we talk about the ODI matches, the situation has gone critical. There is no any SL batsman among the top 10 rankers & after 10 years Murali has to depart from the top 10. Do we have anything else to save? I think yes. Because we didn't lose everything. Among the bad memories we've got some valuable gifts for our future cricket.
I don't like to talk much in match wise, cos many has done it already. But i cant agree with Vass for his last over of the first ODI. I don't like to talk about the second match, cos it was 100% same as the 2007 world cup finals.
I can't accept with the way that SL players played the last test match. Specially Dilshan & Warnapuara. They played in a unspecific hurry. If Warnapura was able kept his patient as the first match, there was a high possibility to give a great ending for the second match either.
As i mentioned earlier the dangerous couple gave a great exhibition for their viewers. Chanderpaul, the man in form in all time and the impressive Sarwan made the things to be happy for WI.
When we move in to ODIs the only thing we have to talk is the power of young players. New opener Mahela Udawatte was quite exited, but he showed his ability of hard hitting. Kaushalya Weerarathne, a good all rounder showed his batting abilities & made a big threat in front of Maharoof for the place. But I think Maharoof has become a essential part of the team now. But Weerarathne is also a good solution for the vacant regiment in SL team. "vacant regiment" is the players who can hit the ball hard. Ajantha Mendis made Murali to think twice about the current form and tactics of him. Mendis would be the next headache for the world cricket from SL, as Malinga in the last couple of years.
There is a special character to be talked. He is Chamara Kapugedera. If you can remember i've mentioned his name in my dream team. I think now he proved his talent & made Sri Lankan middle order strong. His 95 in the first match is a one of the greatest innings i've seen from a middle order batsman. We should appreciate his patient. Obviously he is a big hitter and a striking batsman. But he was able to change his mind and take the entire control of the bowlers with Chamara Silva. Both of them have played wonderful innings. In the second match Kapugedera has done a real job with Udawatte. In that position he played a senior role. He gave all advices to Udawatte & made the things better.

What do we need in the future?
The answer will be a simple one. We have to take Sanath Jayasuriya in & should give opprtunity to Udawatte to play with Jayasuriya. Because it should be the specific thing to do for Udawatte. If selectors call Upul Tharanga again in to the team in the next series, it would be the worst thing to do for that talented player. We have to give some time to refresh him. If you can remember, the same thing has done to Mahela Jayawardena after the Word cup 2003. His recovery was a outstanding.
Dilhara, we need your service quickly. It is the time to stop your injuries.

Sanga, You have to recover yourself soon. It is you the key batsman which every team looking for. If you can break through the pressure others will do their job.

There is nothing to argue with the IPL. Every player should have a right to participate any legal event. But every player has to think about the country.

Nothing to worry about the current position in the rankings. We have the potential & only thing we needed is the unity.

"Sri Lanka is the most unpredictable team in the world"

A Happy beginning in Caribbean

Actually I'm quite happy about the things have gone so far at Caribbean. The main thing is as a Sri Lankan I can be satisfied the way that our boys played test cricket. It was decorated by typical Sri Lankan strategies & showed us a great team work.

There are many things to celebrate & some things to think again.

Malintha Warnapura, the promising Sri Lankan opener exhibited a outstanding performances in the providence. He showed his ability of patient. In the previous time he played against Bangladesh he was not well set batsman. That makes him to spend much time in outside the team to have the international recognition. But this time he did it perfectly. His 120 in the first innings was the base for 476. Micheal Vandort, the other permanent opener showed his talents again, as he showed in Australia. Now he has proved his ability as a professional test player.
Kumar Sangakkara, the world's no:1 batsman fired again with his natural attack. In the second innings he showed the difference between full time batsman & part time batsman. It was good to see that Thilan Samaraweera playing a senior role. Dilshan has to be much careful in the test matches. Prasanna Jayawardena, one of the exiting wicket keepers in the world cricket has to improve his batting performances as keeping.Because he will be our next permanent wicket keeper for all international crickets after Sangakkara.
Mahela Jayawardena, the Sri Lankan skipper wrote the history again in Caribbean. He led his team to the first test victory in Caribbean. That is amazing & Thank you for that.
Let me talk something about our bowling section.
Chaminda Vass did really well with the young Thushara. Vass, the most experienced seamer in the world cricket gave no excuses for West Indian Batsman. It is true that no one couldn't recognize his in-swing yet. Thats the point WIs got wrong. That made Vass so confident to be the 'Man Of the match'.
Thilina Thushara is a promising seamer & the good thing is he never loose his confidence. That is why he was able to get the wicket all over the innings. Actually we expected much more from Rangana Herath. He was not up to the standards we expected.
Muttiah Muraalitharan did ball tough as usual. But we have something to think twice. You may have noticed the way that young WI batsman faced to Murali. They didn't make their way to be a victim for Murali. It is true that Murali did ball tough, but the problem is they were able to save the wicket. That's why WI were able to save the follow on also.
That is not a good sign for next matches.
It seems that they have done many home works to face Murali. That is why I always saying we should have another good spinner. Herath didn't gone so far yet. We'll see in the next match.
However we should beware of dangerous Gayle & the man in form, Sarwan. Sarwan's 2 innings in the first match were outstanding. He didn't get the pressure in.It is so beautiful to watch how he played to Murali. He used to play in the front foot. Interesting.
The other major role which was not activated in the first match is Shivanarine Chanderpaul.Chris Gayle is a striker & he is also a key man. But when we take the previous records the most succeeded partnership was between Chanderpaul & Sarwan. Those two can be dangerous in any time any where against any team.
So it is good to think about this either.
There is nothing more to talk & we have to wait till the next match ends.

bye bye

Thank you Gilly , This is specialy for you!

I think i have to write about this outstanding cricketer cos of his gentle character. I Strongly believe that he is the greatest player Australia had after Steve Waugh.
It is true that he scored 6 centuries of his 16 century career against Sri Lanka. So he could be the most successful Ausi batsman against SL.
I remember his one day debut in 1996 shortly after the world cup which was grabbed by Sri Lankans, and he came into the side with lot of promises. He showed his talent as a batsman & as a wicket keeper. Obviously we know that he was the premier wicket keeping batsman when he was retiring.
His specialty was being a quite different character among the typical Ausi players. He never waits for the umpire's decision, if he knows that he's gone. There were so many examples for that. It is something unusual as a Ausi player. Because I've heard once Ponting said that " It is a stupid to leave before umpire's decision". I dont know how you justify that, but I have to say Gilly is a great player who have lots of gentle characteristics which were highly expected in cricket.
As a Asian I must be happy about the way that CB series ended. but Gilly, it was not a good farewell for your great international cricket career.
Hope to see you in another ICC event in the future......

This is little tribute to a great player. Adam Gilchrist, Its for you.
bye bye..

Dreams came true !

Hello everybody ! I'm really happy about the way that things happened so far. The special thing is that some of my predictions came true. You may already noticed that.
It is true that i didn't mentioned my Test team, but i predicted the things has to be done.
Chanaka Welegedera earns a recall while Mahela Udawatta finds his initial steps of international cricket. Sanath Jayasuriya & Muttiah Muralitharan dropped. It is a good for their short future.

Let me tell you some more. I think that Jayasuriya's retiring match may not predictable. Because his retirement would be a immediate one. It is so hard bare that world's most exiting batsman going to retire. But we have to face the truth. There will be no other man to break Murali's great bowling record. He's the genius. No doubt, he is the best bowler for ever just like Sir Donald Bradman for batting.

Lets see what is happening. HIP HIP HURRAY !!!!!

Cheers !

What Sri Lanka needs......

This is could be a quite common topic, but including some different views. Specially i wanna talk about the Sri Lankan coach & officials. You may got surprised. but it is something new.

Obviously Si Lanka already got some talented players. But Sri Lanka still struggling with the tactics & other techniques. Let me point out some of them.

You remember the former Australian coach ' John Bucanan'. He was not an international player, but he almost got succeeded. He gave his contribution to win the ICC World cup for three consecutive times. That was a old story. but there is something to earn from it.
I strongly believe that Sri Lanka got much more talented players than Australia all the times. As an example do Australians have a player to compare with Sanath Jayasuriya, Aravinda de Silva ? But without that kind of great players they usually win the matches.(I'm not saying that Australia hasn't good players. The have Ponting, Clarke, Hayden etc..) What is the secret of them. Why Sri Lanka still unable to win matches in a row?
There's no magic ! It is only the mental confidence of the players. It is something Sri Lanka didn't deeply researched yet. That is the gap between Sri Lanka & Australia. Australia win the games without legendary players & Sri Lanka still struggling with the support of that kind of players with outstanding performances.

there are so many example for the above reason.

What to do:

No miracle needed !

Sri Lanka needed only a good coach with the ability of cropping some positive attitudes among the players. He should teach them the advantage can be taken through the positive attitude. We saw several times when Australian top order fallen, a middle order batsman act the role of a anchor. That is the strength of the Australians. Even Bret Lee & Michel Johnson could survive the inning for a long time. Not because of their batting ability, the only thing they have is mental confidence about their role.

John Bucanan did that. I mean he did crop the mental confidence by injecting positive attitudes.

I've noticed that Sangakkara all ways trying to say this. Obviously he is the man in form for all times. He don't care the team. Australia or Zimbabwe doesn't matter, both are extremely same to him. That is what every country needed. until the players keeping a constant dread about Australia the result may be same.

I think Sri Lanka's greatest batsman Jayasuriya also struggling with the above deices. So Sri Lanka needed immediately a good coach with above mentioned abilities.

When I turn In to another side, Sri Lankan officials has to be much quicker than present. As I said earlier the selectors has to be moderated with some radical ideas & Manager should keep on his eyes about the world trends. I highly respect the teams who playing cricket by their brains & other natural things. But it is time to them to think twice. Because all developed countries uses the latest technologies to everything as well as cricket.

I don't like to talk about this sub topic, cos I have a great disappoint in that manner.

There is a advantage we can get from young players for this event. Because young players are typically quite revolutionary. So they never give up anything till the end. That is the concept of my idea.

So it is good to think positively every time when you playing against a high ranked country. This is not related only to Sri Lanka. This is true for any other country.

Cheers !

Changes has to be much radical !

This could be a quite common topic in these days, cos many(journalists) has engaged in this topic.
Well after a disappointed tour Sri Lankan Cricket team keeping a rest before the IPL. 75 % of the team has signed the agreement to participate the IPL. It is no any bad point in taking part in a such campaign, cos players should have enough freedom to do anything in their holidays.

But

there is a huge responsibility to selectors to select the SL team for the next West Indies tour.

In that particular manner selectors should have to be act a quite radical role, cos the trend is that.Let me take examples for that.
    * Indian selectors dropped Dravid, Ganguly, VVS Laxman and called Ishanth Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Praveen Kumar to the side. The result was quite unbelievable. No need to mention here again.Indian won the first Triangular in Australia. It is not only that they winning the series, now they have a good promising 2nd class for a any purpose.May be they'll use it in the next World Cup.
    * Australian selectors got to find the correct openner for their team. They tested James Hopes & He did promise that place( I think )

Now just turn in to the Sri Lankan side. Actually they did nothing at the end. But they have lot of problems against them. Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vass are now on their final steps in the International cricket. But the question is do Sri Lanka have a proper 2nd class. They have only 2 world class batsmans & world class bowler in the side right now(except those who mentioned above).Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene & Lasith Malinga. But they have TM Dilshan, Farveez Maharoof, Dilhara Fernando as some promised players.
I have only one comment about these players. Sri Lankan selectors didn't allow them to establish properly. They trying to use them as some match winning machines. But i strongly believe that these players have much more potential than selectors known. I'll talk about them later.

Let me talk about my suggestions. I would like to prefer some new names for the Sri Lankan side. Perhaps some of them are not new. but they should come in. According to my knowledge the next Sri Lankan opening partners should be Chamara Kapugedera & Farveez Maharoof. There are may reasons for my choice.
I've noticed that there are several qualities that a opening batsman should have. Some of them are,

- He should be a good striker
- He shouldn't fear for any bowler
- He should have enough patient
- He should have a ability to play shots all over the ground
- He should have a ability to pressure on the bowlers

I think now you might agree with me.cos both of these batsman have those qualities. You might think that " This man(me) has favour on these players". No, it is not. I know that Kapugedera & Maharoof had some bad times due to their unlucky.
Maharoof, the most succeeded U 19 captain in Sri Lanka.( Nominated as the man of the series of the U19 world cup 2004). Even though he hasn't had a good time in his career as a batsman yet.But he showed his talent several times.Once I remember that he played a brilliant inning with a tail ender, though he saved Sri Lankan pride that day. His specialty is he don't afraid of any bowler & he has enough patient for the correct time. Perhaps you may tell me that he hasn't any patient. The reason for that particular manner is, he always came as the 6th or 7th batsman. He can't do nothing in that positions. If Sangakkara came as the 7th batsman he'll also do the same job.Thats for sure. There is nothing to talk about his bowling now, because he is improving himself day by day. You may remember his bowling figures in the match which Australia got out for 180's.So my idea is he is the all rounder that we are looking for.
Kapugedera, according to a international commentator, he is "one of the most dangerous young players who engaged in last couple of years". Yes it is. He proved that he has the all qualities that i mentioned above. If i write this article couple of months before, i might say that the correct man is some other one. But Kapugedera showed his talent as a bowler also in the last tour. Now he is one of the greatest fielders in the world cricket. I strongly believe that there are two all rounders should be in the team. If you have any doubt about his talent, you may compare him with James Hopes of Australia. Why Australians try to take him to the team? The only reason is his talent. They identified that.Hopes has no great record in his international career. Same as this man.I want to tell this. Kapugedera also has the ability to control the entire situation. He is the youngest player in the Sri Lankan side.
I agree if you nominate Indika de Seram, Mahela udawatta, Anil Rideegammanagedera, Kaushalya Weerarathne or Thilina Kandamby as the openers. But the thing is we have to think our future. Doesn't matter to take two of them to the side. Let me pull out some facts for you. Seram & Rideegammanagedera are in their 30's. So no time to train them as the permanent openers. Yes I believe that Udawatta would be a good investment. But Weerarathne or Kandamby would be usefull for the 6th position.Because the number 6th batsman should be a good hitter.
But there should be a good spinner in the side, cos that is the power of asians. So my choice is Lokuarachchi. He would be the most suitable player for the 7th position.Obviously he is a good batsman.
Bowling section is quite strong with the support of Malinga, Maharoof. But selections have hopes of finding the correct bowler who can bowl with Malinga. Ishara Amarasinghe did promissed as a good bowler & Chanaka Welegedara is also a good bowler. Welegedarea is the man who Vassi did recommend for his place.

Now let me tell you my conclusion.
This is my selection:

1. Chamara Kapugedera
2. Farveez Maharoof
3. Kumar Sangakkara
4. Mahela Jayawardene
5. TM Dilshan
6. Chamara Silva
7. Indika de Seram
8. Kaushal Lokuarachchi
9. Lasith Malinga
10.Chanaka Welegedara
11.Ishara Amarasinghe

There is a reason for adding Seram in to the team. You may remember that the Australians called ' Mike Hussy' into the Aussi side just couple of years ago. They called him" Mister cricket".Their experiment has been succeeded.

What i'm going to say is we should have a good experienced batsman at the middle order. Because sometimes he shall receive a lot of responsibilities. Doesn't matter to having lack of international experience. So Seram can be our ' Mister cricket'. There is no point in having a team with full of young players. It should be a blend of young & Experienced. That is why i select this team as my wish.

This is just my idea. You don't have to depend on this to vote the poll in this blog.
You can ask any question about this team. I have a reasons for every selection. So do comment it. It can be changed.

What do you Mean by Music ?

What is Music? Can you answer that question? i think it is so hard to you either. Let me introduce it in this manner. When something hit on another solid or something( it can be liquid either),it will generate a noise. We can say 'sound' to that noise.Sounds can be defined as two major categories. Pleasant & Unpleasant. When you generate a sound in rhythmically we can say 'Music' for that. This is my definition for the music. Then someone can ask me "if i hit two metals each other there will be a noise.when i hit it in rhythmically will it be a music?" Well My answer will be 'YES', because it is also a kind of music.

My current attitude about the Music in Sri Lanka

Well this is not a easy topic to talk, but i would like to share my idea about the above topic with you.
My attitude would be not the typical, because i have some good dreams about the future. Many seniors says that the 'music' is currently unavailable in Sri Lanka. But I say NO. Let me tell you the evidences for that.

Just think about the music in late 60's & 70's. There were not many artist who engaged with the proper music composing. All the composing were done by a little group of artists. That indicates the lack of variety. I mean every artist had the same surrounding & same music cultural feelings. So according to these circumstances we cant expect much more variations in any subject. That would be the closest reason for the seniors having same attitude about present. But I don't say they are wrong, because there are some points which i can agree with them.

I strongly believe that Sri Lankan music has the same problem as World music. It is not corrupted ! but it has been divided into several new cultures. Obviously there were not Rap, hip-hop, R&B, Metallic in early 70's.But the time has changed. Thoughts & Needs of the people also changed. That is why the music also changed.I want to say this. "Music is everything".
As an example: we know that the Rock music uses to express the feelings by force. specially by people those who under pressure due to some social problem.
That is a good example for the difference/Gap between the thoughts & feelings of people. That feelings made their mind to generate some new way to express their feelings.
That is the main reason i can point out in this particular idea.
So up to here my conclusion is " Music is divided in to various cultures"

then we can turn into the Sri Lankan's problem. According to the above reason i can say there is a possibility of being some people with the typical 70's feelings. that is the greatest thing & that is the beauty of this world, People with different feelings & ideas.
That is why we have a wide variety of music in Sri Lanka.
So the other problem is Rap & Hip-hop(Hip-hop is a sub culture of Rap). The main thing is Asian subcontinent people have no keen to change their minds to listen those music.even there is a reason for that, because asian subcontinent rappers & R&B singers don't know what they are doing. They never studied it & never engaged with it.The only thing they want is to make a 'music video' to the televisions.
We cant say anything to that Rap & Hip-hop, because it is a kind of music which is a world trusted.

Except these two varieties there is another problem in Sri Lanka. There are some Muppet & Jokers in the Sri Lankan music industry. I won't mention the names but they did the real damage for the Sri Lankan music( That will do the corruption in the future ) . They used same beat & rhythm for all of their songs. the only difference is the useless lyrics.
Then a senior may ask me "You told before there is no corruption in SL, but now you say it has done the damage. what is that? " My answer will be this. I was talking about only the musicians, not about the muppets. They trying to create a beat & rhythm for their dancing purposes only.

I just tried tell you this, We don't need to care about those people.Because they have done nothing(good or bad) for the SL music. If someone think that they did a damage, that is what they need. We have to neglect them.
Can they change the history? Can they change the greatest music created by our greatest musicians? Can they bring their music to the international?

NO

no they cant do nothing.

There is another little problem related to this. It is the musical taste of the people. If there isn't any person with that kind of taste, to whom they sing for? May be to the cats & dogs.

There is no point in putting up specious arguments for the current situation. Just think about the proper thing that we can do.I think many of the seniors tying suppress the truth. They just wanted to run down the new generation. They didn't point out any activity to overcome this problem.( I'm not talking about the entire senior generation)

I'd like to prefer one thing to change this unfortunate situation. we have to crop the literature among the younger generation. Please dont ask how. it has to be done.

This is my current attitude about the Music in SL.
